What Is an Editorial Review?

An editorial review is a professional, independent assessment of a book written for potential use in marketing, publicity, author websites, bookseller listings, media materials, and other promotional contexts.

Unlike my regular reader reviews and Advance Reader Reviews, Editorial Review Services are commissioned professional work.

Payment is for my time reading, evaluating, and writing the review—not for a particular opinion or rating.

What You Can Expect

Reviews are thoughtful, specific, and written with both the book and its intended audience in mind. Depending on the project and agreed-upon service, a review may include:

• A concise professional review suitable for promotional use
• Identification of the book’s particular strengths and audience
• A pull quote or short excerpt suitable for promotional materials
• Publication on The Read Rover when appropriate and agreed upon
• Additional coverage or features when included in the project

Specific deliverables, length, publication, and turnaround time will be agreed upon before I accept a project.

Editorial Independence

Paying for an editorial review does not guarantee a positive review, star rating, recommendation, or specific language.

I reserve the right to decline books that aren’t a good fit for The Read Rover or projects where I don’t believe I can provide a fair and useful review.

Any paid, sponsored, gifted, or advance-copy relationship will be disclosed where appropriate.
