When life goes off script, we figure out what comes next.
Life does not always follow the plan. Injury, disability, career disruption, family changes, loss, caregiving, or other major transitions can alter the way we see ourselves and the future we expected.
Off Script Counseling & Rehabilitation is built around a simple idea: when the old roadmap no longer fits, you deserve support figuring out what comes next.
Our approach is person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in rehabilitation counseling. We focus on helping people identify what matters to them, understand the barriers in front of them, explore realistic options, and build a life that works for who they are now.
There is no single “right” way forward.
Your story. Your choices. Your future.
Counseling Services — Coming Soon
Off Script Counseling is currently in development. Clinical counseling services are not currently available and will be offered following completion of applicable licensure requirements. Select non-clinical rehabilitation, vocational, navigation, advocacy, and consultation services may be available in the meantime.
Counseling & Adjustment to Disability
Acquiring a disability or experiencing a major change in health can affect much more than physical functioning. It can change identity, work, relationships, independence, routines, confidence, and plans for the future.
Counseling may address:
- Adjustment to acquired disability
- Identity and role changes
- Grief related to changes in ability, work, or lifestyle
- Stress associated with rehabilitation and medical systems
- Family and caregiver adjustment
- Self-advocacy and communication
- Community reintegration
- Coping with major life transitions
- Rebuilding confidence, purpose, and participation
The goal is not to return someone to who they were before. It is to help them decide what a meaningful life looks like now.
What is Rehabilitation Counseling?
Rehabilitation counseling looks beyond a diagnosis or symptom to consider the whole person’s life—work, education, independence, relationships, accessibility, community participation and personal goals. It combines counseling with practical problem-solving to help people navigate barriers, make informed choices and participate more fully in the lives they want to build.
Vocational Rehabilitation & Career Services
Work can be an important part of identity, independence, financial stability, and community participation. Disability or other major life changes can make employment more complicated—but they do not automatically end a person’s working life.
Vocational rehabilitation services may include:
- Career exploration and counseling
- Return-to-work planning
- Career transition after disability
- Transferable skills exploration
- Employment goal development
- Workplace accommodation planning
- Disability disclosure decision-making
- Job retention strategies
- Résumé and interview preparation
- Vocational resource navigation
- Coordination with rehabilitation and employment programs
Services are individualized around the person’s strengths, interests, functional needs, and goals.
Life & Resource Navigation
Sometimes the hardest part is not knowing where to begin.
Life and resource navigation is designed for individuals and families dealing with multiple systems at once. Rather than simply providing a list of resources, we help identify needs, prioritize next steps, locate appropriate services, and create an actionable plan.
Navigation may include:
- Disability and rehabilitation resources
- Housing resources
- Transportation options
- Employment and vocational rehabilitation
- Independent living supports
- Community participation
- Assistive technology resources
- Caregiver resources
- Education and training programs
- Community and nonprofit services
- Aging and long-term planning resources
- Referrals to legal, financial, medical, or other professionals when needed
Acquired Disability Life Planning
A major injury or disability can affect nearly every area of life at once.
Acquired Disability Life Planning helps individuals and families look at the whole picture rather than addressing one problem at a time.
Planning may explore:
- Employment and education
- Housing and accessibility
- Transportation
- Daily routines and independence
- Community participation
- Recreation and meaningful activity
- Support systems
- Family roles
- Resource needs
- Long-term goals
- Accommodation needs
- Future planning
The purpose is to develop a realistic, person-centered roadmap based on the individual’s priorities—not someone else’s definition of what recovery should look like.
Educational Advocacy & Family Navigation
Families navigating disability services in education often encounter complicated systems, unfamiliar terminology, and difficult decisions.
Educational advocacy and navigation may include:
- Early Intervention and IFSP navigation
- Preparing for Early Intervention meetings
- Transition from Part C services into preschool
- IEP review and meeting preparation
- 504 planning support
- Organizing records and parent concerns
- Helping families identify questions and priorities
- Understanding accommodations and supports
- Educational resource navigation
- Transition planning from school to adulthood
- Coordination with vocational rehabilitation and adult disability resources
Educational advocacy and navigation services are not legal representation or legal advice.
Transition to Adulthood
The transition from school into adult services can be one of the most confusing periods for young people with disabilities and their families.
Transition planning may address:
- Employment
- Postsecondary education
- Vocational rehabilitation
- Independent living
- Transportation
- Disability accommodations
- Adult service systems
- Community participation
- Self-advocacy
- Career development
- Benefits and resource referrals
The focus is helping young adults build greater choice, participation, and direction as they move into adulthood.

Accessibility and inclusion
