Books about mental health, relationships, coping, identity, change, and figuring out this whole being-human business.
Mental Health & Personal Growth
These are books I’ve found meaningful, useful, thought-provoking, or just genuinely worth reading when it comes to mental health and the complicated business of being human.
You’ll find books about coping, relationships, identity, resilience, grief, boundaries, change, and figuring out how to move forward when life doesn’t go according to plan. Some are written by mental health professionals, some draw from research, and others offer insight through lived experience.
I don’t agree with every word of every book on this shelf—and you don’t have to either. A good book doesn’t always give you answers. Sometimes it gives you a different way to think about the question.
These recommendations are for education and personal exploration and aren’t a substitute for individualized mental health care.
Take what helps. Question what doesn’t. And leave the rest on the shelf.
📚 Borrow It Instead
You don’t have to buy a book just because I liked it. Search WorldCat to see whether a library near you has a copy.

Don’t see it nearby? Ask your local library about interlibrary loan. Libraries are wonderful. Use them shamelessly.
